Privacy
Short version. The game collects no personal data. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, and it never connects to a server of ours. Steam features are handled by Steam. This website sets no cookies, loads nothing from other companies (apart from a bot check on the signup form) and only keeps your email address if you confirm it for the launch list.
The game: what it doesn't do
- It does not collect, send or sell any information about you.
- It has no accounts, no sign-in and no email addresses.
- It has no analytics, tracking or advertising.
- It makes no network connections of its own. The only online part is the Steam client you already run.
The game: what Steam handles
When you start the game through Steam it uses these Steam features. Valve runs them under Valve's own privacy policy, and Nullvorm gets no personal data from them.
- Achievements and stats, stored on your Steam account.
- Leaderboards. After a run the game uploads the score and a few facts about the run (table reached, After Hours depth, best throw, coins thrown, stake, venue and date) with the three arcade initials you picked. Steam shows the entry with your Steam profile name. The game itself never downloads or shows other players' entries.
- Rich Presence: a status line such as "Table 57 · Arcade Alley" that your Steam friends can see. Your Steam privacy settings decide who sees it.
- Steam Cloud: your save slots and profile, including the slot names you type, are copied to Steam Cloud so they follow you between PCs. To switch it off, right-click the game in Steam, choose Properties, then General, and turn off "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud".
- The game asks Steam whether it is running on a Steam Deck, so it can show the right button icons.
The game: files on your PC
Everything lives under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Flipside\Saved\:
SaveGames\Flipside\: your three save slots, your profile (stats, coin collection, high scores) and your options.Logs\: a short log of warnings and errors for troubleshooting.Crashes\<date>\: written if the game crashes or freezes. It holds a minidump, the call stack, the end of the log, the game version, your graphics options and the Windows version. Only the 10 newest are kept, and the game tells you when one exists.
Nothing in the Crashes folder is sent anywhere. If you send us a report for support, look at it first: a minidump is a snapshot of the game's memory and can contain file paths, which may include your Windows user name. To remove all of it, delete the Flipside folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%.
The game: children
The game collects no data from anyone, so there is nothing separate for children. The age rating is a separate matter: the game has simulated gambling with pretend money, and nothing can be bought. See the rating on the store page.
This website and the launch list
nullvorm.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts, videos or scripts from other companies. Like every web server, Cloudflare (our host) processes your IP address to deliver the page. We don't store it. The one exception: when you start filling in the launch-list form, it can load Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that keeps bots off the list. It sets no tracking cookies and only tells us whether the check passed.
When you sign up we send one email with a confirmation link. Until you click it, nothing is stored. Once you confirm, we store your email address, when you signed up and confirmed, and which version of the consent text you agreed to. We use it for one thing: emailing you when FLIPSIDE '86 launches and, rarely, about a big announcement. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)).
- The list is stored with Cloudflare, in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, on Nullvorm's own account. Nobody else gets it, and it is never sold.
- We keep your address until you unsubscribe, or at most twelve months after launch, whichever comes first.
- You can withdraw consent, see what we hold or have it deleted at any time: email [email protected]. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link too.
- If you think we're handling your data wrongly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
If this changes
If the game ever adds anything that sends data, such as automatic crash upload, it will be off until you turn it on, and this page will say what is sent and where before it ships.
